Harrat Viewpoint is not a stop I would skip. It works especially well after Hegra or Dadan & Jabal Ikmah, when you want to slow the pace, enjoy the view and finish the day around sunset.
Visit after 4:00 PM and time the stay around sunset.
Allow around one hour for the viewpoint, photos and a relaxed stop.
Sporty, comfortable clothing and shoes are the practical choice.
Especially suitable for couples, families and children.
The preferred photography window is sunset.
Head to the area with the panoramic view over AlUla. This is Faisal’s preferred place for the strongest viewpoint photographs.
After Harrat Viewpoint, continue to AlUla Old Town for an evening walk, cafés and dinner.
It fits naturally after returning from Hegra or Dadan & Jabal Ikmah.
For many visitors, the mistake is simply leaving Harrat Viewpoint out of the itinerary. It adds a completely different perspective to the day and gives you a chance to slow down after the heritage sites.
The viewpoint is high above the surrounding area — around 1,800 metres above sea level according to Faisal’s local guidance. The road should be handled by a confident, experienced driver, especially if you are unfamiliar with mountain roads.
A strong day can flow from Hegra or Dadan & Jabal Ikmah into a slower sunset stop at Harrat, then continue naturally to AlUla Old Town for the evening and dinner.
